Head to head · One is discontinued
Only one of these is a purchase you can still make. Therabody's own page for the 2nd Gen now labels its colour Gray (Discontinued), while the G3 remains in the range at $219.99. The motors are not the difference: the percussion rates are identical at 1750, 2100 and 2400 PPM. What thirty dollars bought was half an hour more battery, half an ounce off the weight, and two attachments that otherwise cost extra.

The call
Option 01
Two extra attachments alone are worth most of the thirty dollars, and you get half an hour more battery and fifty grams less to hold. This is the straightforward answer.
Option 02
If you already own one, there is nothing here that justifies replacing it. The motor runs at the same three rates as the G3, and what the newer model adds is battery, a little less weight and two more heads. None of that is a reason to retire a working unit — and Therabody no longer sells a new one anyway.
Option 03
The Mini line is the only part of the Theragun range where Therabody publishes percussion rates at all, on both generations. Every other model, up to the $649.99 PRO Plus, leaves that figure out.
